T.I. CONFIRMS YO GOTTA SIGNING TO GRAND HUSTLE

PRESS RELEASE: I WANT MY NAME BACK STARRING HIP HOP LEGENDS MASTER GEE & WONDER MIKE OF SUGAR HILL GANG

DOCUMENTARY “I WANT MY NAME BACK” STARRING HIP HOP ICONS & FORMER SUGARHILL GANG MEMBERS WONDER MIKE AND MASTER GEE HARLEM EVENT

New York, NY – More than 30 years after the historic recording of the iconic mega-hit “Rapper’s Delight,” Master Gee & Wonder Mike come back to reclaim their identities and rightful place in hip hop history in the documentary film “I Want My Name Back.” One Village Entertainment, a division of Image Entertainment, and part of Robert Johnson's RLJ Entertainment released the film on DVD and digital platforms on June 11, 2013.

“I Want My Name Back” highlights the rise, fall, and rise again of original members of The Sugarhill Gang, Michael
Wright (aka Wonder Mike) and Guy O'Brien (aka Master Gee). One of the most influential songs in the history of the
music industry and #2 in Rolling Stone’s Top Hip Hop Songs of all time, "Rapper's Delight" was the first commercial
hip hop release, forever changing the face of the music industry. “Rapper's Delight” is still, to this day, the number one selling single in hip hop history. The group followed up their first hit with another song still played today called
“Apache”. Their first three albums went platinum. While this success should have cemented the legacy and careers of the original members, reality tells a much different story--one that most people, including those in the hip hop world, are not even aware of. A story of unprecedented identity theft, copyright and trademark violations, Master Gee and Wonder Mike fight a more than 30 year battle against their label to get their names and legacy back. The film also features Grandmaster Caz (The Cold Crush Brothers), Melle Mel (Grandmaster Flash), and Vinnie and Treach (Naughty by Nature). “I Want My Name Back” is the journey of two men who want what was taken from them: their names, their legacy and their music!

“I Want My Name Back” will be presented at the following summer event. Media coverage is invited.

Wednesday, July 10th
Presented by Maysles Cinema's Summer of Music, Reel Harlem: The Historic Harlem Parks Film Festival, TedSmooth's
Old School Jam and Harlem Hip-Hop Tours.

An unprecedented event with the three original writers back to reclaim and perform their legendary song, “Rapper’s
Delight” in one of the birthplaces of hip hop!

5:30pm The hottest DJ in the Bronx, DJ TedSmooth’s Summer Jam featuring an MC contest by audience members
7:30pm Performance featuring Wonder Mike, Master Gee and Grandmaster Caz
8:30pm Screening with brief Q&A to follow with filmmakers and talent

@ Marcus Garvey Park's Richard Rodgers Amphitheater
Behind Pelham Fritz Recreation Center, Mt. Morris Park West at 122nd St.

Rain Location: The Mount Morris Ascension Presbyterian Church
16-20 Mount Morris Park West (Southwest corner of West 122nd Street)

Director’s Statement
“When I first met Wonder Mike and Master Gee I thought I would listen to the usual story of a band breaking up. You know, the stuff you see on TV like the sex and drugs ruining the rock n roll or something like that. As I started
listening to their story, I heard something a little different. I heard they would write songs and have other people put their names on them sometimes giving them credit for writing their own songs and sometimes not. I heard that they sold millions of records, had three platinum albums and they were broke. And of course they were in court fighting over all this larceny. This was a sad story, but unfortunately many other groups and performers could tell the same story. But then I heard them say they also had their names taken away. That got my attention. How did that happen? By an illegal trademark, which basically stated that they never existed. Wow. Now there’s a story,” says film director Roger Paradiso.

Media interviews are available now with the film’s director Roger Paradiso as well as Wonder Mike and Master Gee.

TONE CASH INTERVIEW MISS 163

Not too long ago I was watching the news and saw something amazing. A young Latina from The X (Bronx) who was internationally known for graffiti and giving back. She bombed (tagged up walls) in the US of A and on other continents.  Well what have we here I thought?

My next interview it would seem and some great networking.

In the middle of the X we met at a spot called The Point, a community center that had programs for youth and adults. There were kids learning Spanish dances from volunteers of a subset of Americorp, Older people meet ups, a snack bar, and rap sessions with a Social Worker. Not to mention an arts program that had painting, drawing, and of course graffiti.

-So Miss163, what do you do here?

-Miss163: I run a women’s empowerment group and other groups to benefit the local youth.

-Where have you worked?

-Miss163: I did non profit for 9 years but have branched out.

-What did you do before this recent work?

-Miss163: I was in Peru for a year on a Fulbright Scholarship. I went for one thing and found another.

-Explain please.

-Miss163: Initially I went to do experimental film making and exploring humor, indirectly satirical and or humorous. But as time progressed I found a different venture, a different voice.
Social Disparities and the like were a focus but we learned that people literally were disappeared in Peru for critiquing the government. It was real. When people talk
About black helicopters here- that madness is real in Peru.

-Maripussy Crew?

-Miss163: I linked up with them in Peru. We became family actually. It was a group of dedicated females with a global perspective. And our reach is global. Peru, Paris, USA, you name it.

-Why was this big for you?

-Miss163: From my youth I wanted to be down with a crew but it was a male dominated arena and that made it difficult. I was a drawer and artist by nature. I went to LaGuardia High School and then Cooper Union where I got a degree with a Fine Arts Concentration.

-Tell us more about Peru.

-Miss163: In Peru we bombed by permission. Many people couldn’t afford to paint more than the front of their homes. We came in and offered to give them custom murals aka bombings. Which they loved.

-So essentially you ladies paid for your dreams?

-Miss163: Correct.

-What is the goal of the Women’s group you run at The Point?

-Miss163: to create sustainable change. That every girl helps every lady, helps every woman so we grow as a cohesive whole.

-Who is your favorite artist?

-Miss163: Nina Simone. In Graff- Chile’s Initi. As a sculpter- Donald Judd.

-Long term plans?

-Miss163: I’d like to open an LLC for my artwork and other ventures, maybe a 501C3. That is iffy though. I would love to open a women’s center in Peru.

-So you would use your USA dollars to love on Peru?

-Miss163: Yup.

-Tell me about your CK Shock work.

-Miss163: CK Shock became Street Edition and initially I was contracted to do small canvases and personal art pieces for those involved on the project. From gifts it expanded to bottle/product design and ad campaign. Then I was asked to partner on the cosmetics angle as well.

-That is pretty amazing. Tell me about the person who set this all up in your lifetime.

-Miss163: My mom planted the seed from a very early age. She told me I would make millions following my heart.

-Thats raw. Tell me the Jordan’s story 1 more time.

-Miss163: I had hit my mom up like- buy me these $85 dollar Jordans, they’re dope. And she was like no that’s too much $ for sneakers.
So about a week later I hit her up like- Mami, can I get art supplies? She grabbed her purse and we went. When the total rang up it was dead on the same amount- almost to the penny and that’s when it hit me: The values she was trying to instill in me, but more importantly the belief she had in me and my creativity.

-Wow. That’s a bit too real lol. So your mom has been a driving force equatable to your passion?

-Miss163: Exactly.

-I thank you for your time. Where can my readers find you and your work?

-Miss163: @Miss163

WALE COVERS WASHINGTON POST

"......I DID IT MY WAY"

This time around the same can be said for Mr Folarin, Better known as Wale; the Maybach Music artist is in full drive with the promotion of his latest masterpiece "Gifted" the album which is set to be release tomorrow, June 25th at all major retailers. This past weekend he sat down for a session of #CRWN with the one and only Elliot Wilson (footage to come later) and to top that off he covers the Washington Post, in grand fashion. Criticized at times for leaving his roots (backpackers, reunite) but as you can see lately, he has reclaimed his glory and taken hold of his brand.  Thats what being #SELFMADE is about

CONTROVERSY SELLS....JUST ASK EVE MINOR

“…Controversial? Me? Never.”
Eve Minor coyly begins describing her latest tasty creation Dirty Pop; a fusion of Grunge, Punk, EDM, hip hop and metal. EP, Ex Rated , is “super fun, and playful…” the songstress continues, having her lyrics described as “very tongue and cheek,” by Patrick Erlmich (The Cutting Room).
Eve Minor, isn’t just a name, “it’s, it’s own key,” combining minor and major melodies with guitar feedback through a youthful, girl next door lens.
“I’m a Freak, but you love it…” the curvaceous instrumentalist chants, in a deviant party-goer anthem.”…I like to keep my art part mystery…” Eve continues, with a long-lashed wink, “it’s superficial, and then you take a step back and go woah, I wonder what that means’ – that’s art.”
Ex rated was recorded in L.A.’s well-accredited Moonshine studios (Korn, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, 2Pac.) alongside acclaimed producers/engineers; an indie album with top notch effort.
Under the direction of BMI writers, Samantha Cox and Brandon Haus, and vocal advice and instruction from coaches Cari Cole (Courtney Love, Journey…) , Don Lawrence (Mick Jagger, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga…), and music director Marvin Floyd (Ashanti); Eve has been relentless in her progression as an artist, “I won’t stop…I love it…”.
“Im a Freak, for the underground…” Minor says, talking about her eclectic musical influences; growing up with a strong love for Slipknot and Choking Victim. Her musical taste was reshaped along the way, with influential house artists, Benni Benassi and DeadMau5 , “I like him (deadMau5) because I can relate, he’s an amazing producer and performer; that’s what I strive for in my work , pushing bounds…plus he‘s got that head…”
Taking DeadMau5 as a source of inspiration , energy and fun with a raw-punkist attitude, Eve Minor is sure to “Please”.
She goes on to describe some framework for her pieces, with a shy giggle, “They’re actually more than just party songs… some of them are meant as presents…I guess that‘s my romantic side…”, she turned away and blushed.
Believing in yourself, letting love and having a good time, “it’s about living for Now, dwelling on the past is boring and the future isn’t told…”

That’s what Ex Rated is all about and what Eve Minor stands for as an artist. Being who you are and living for the moment! F*ck yeah!

MUSIC CITY USA'S OWN

KEESHA RAINEY

Born in Music City USA, a home to the gospel music industry, Keesha Rainey always had a lifelong dream of being a vocal artist.   She began on this road toward stardom in Nashville, TN at the tender age of 6, singing in her church.  It didn’t stop there!  It was at this early age, that she began to hone in on her vocal gift and musical and leadership abilities.

Mrs. Rainey has been blessed to learn from the best!  She has traveled and shared the stage with one of the best quartet groups around, Donnie, Darryl, & The Joyboyz.  “They took me under their wing and took time out to really teach me.  I’m thankful for that,” she said.  Signed to their label, JSound Records, she released her debut album, entitled Breakthrough, in 2009.  Not only a singer, but also a songwriter, she had the opportunity to write on her project, writing independently her single “Breakthrough,” which is continuing, now more than ever before, to minister to and change lives.  “The message in this song is perfect for such a time as this.  Everybody is dealing with something and people need to know that whatever their situation, “it too shall pass!”

She co-wrote songs, such as her hit song “Rejoice in the Lord,” which made history on CJB Radio (an internet based radio station), being the only song to remain #1 on the charts for a consecutive 6 weeks and hitting #3 on the charts of CJB Radio Top 50 songs for 2010.  In addition, her project Breakthrough slated her to be nominated through various independent award shows and categories, ranging from Artist of the Year to Female Vocalist of the Year.

Mrs. Rainey has not only made a name for herself among her peers, but among gospel greats, as well, when in 2010, Keesha wowed and captured the heart of Dr. Bobby Jones, as he referred to her as a “star”, taking her under his wing to be featured multiple times, internationally through the Word Network, performing on “Bobby Jones Presents,” sharing the stage with artists such as Kim Burrell, The Joyboyz, and Tim Rogers & the Fellas and then continuing to see her dream a reality, by blessing her with the opportunity to grace the stage of “Bobby Jones Gospel” with industry’s top gospel artists Mary Mary, Vashawn Mitchell, and Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson at BET studios, in Washington, DC.  It is during this time, that she delivered her heartfelt testimony, still being talked about to date, topping it off with an amazing, anointed, and from the depths of her soul performance of her song, “Breakthrough.”  This show aired on BET as the 2011 season premiere.  She then went on to write and record her hit Christmas single, “Born is the King,” released during the 2011 holiday season.

Spring 2012 she went on to become the winner of the Blockbuster Showdown “Upcoming Artist Award 2012” in Florence, South Carolina.

Four years later, from the time she finished her debut album, Keesha, an active member and praise and worship leader at her church, Simeon Baptist, is now back with her much anticipated, new hit single entitled, “Stand By Me”!  Released during the week of the 28th Annual 2013 Stellar Awards, she was privileged the opportunity to debut it at several of the Stellar events, such as the Welcoming Celebration hosted by 760 am, featuring great artists such as Vicki Yohe, Wess Morgan, and others and Urban Soul Café’s event, “The Bold and Beautiful,” sharing the stage with some of gospels top female artists, such as Anita Wilson, Alexis Spight, and Cheneta Jones.  She then went on to be mentioned in “The Belle Report”, after wowing the audience during her “Stellar” performance of the Black National Anthem at the 1st Annual Saving the Youth Celebrity Basketball game, which included some of Gospel’s most notables including James Fortune, Isaac Caree, Pastor Jason Nelson, Pastor Charles Jenkins, and many more, stating “many wished her rendition was recorded.”

Keesha Rainey is currently writing and recording for her sophomore album, entitled, “It’s Who I AM” slated to release Summer 2013.
