Son of A Gun

Son of a gun....the meaning now is much more than cliche, or is it? I guess you will have to tune in on April 28th to find out as MTV Presents a six part docuseries titled "Son of a Gun". Executive Produced by Nick Cannon who says,

"Cory's story is inspiring, one that boldly paints the man trials and tribulations he's had to endure in pursuit of his dreams.....I'm grateful for the access that Corey and Peter allowed us to have in order to create a series that we feel will really resonate wit MTV viewers."

Follow the life and time of Young Money / BX's own Corey Gunz. Most notably co-assasinating the recent 6'7 track with Weezy; but if you know like I know the river runs deeper than that. Highly respected for quite some time, he's been projecting his lyrical prowess on every DVD and mixtape you can think of. Could it finally be his time? Stay tuned.

For now we can rejoice that one of our own is getting his just due. Hard work takes precedence, and his time his grind has been second to none. Following in the footsteps of father / manager Peter Gunz of famed Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz who had the 90s hit Deja Vu (uptown Baby) Corey Gunz' 15 minutes has been a long time coming.

Who Sets the trends?

Show you how to do this.......

Chart topping hits, an impeccable style and complete FAN-demonium where ever she goes. At this day and time there is only one person whom these adjectives describe. IT'S NICKI. Need I say more

Sex Appeal aside, you can not dispute her talent, her grind, her vision, her brand. I've watched her come up from the "The Come Up" DVDs when weren't too many people checking for her and I vividly remember telling people she was IT. For me at that time it was her approach, she seemed so real and believable. She reminded me of a "girl around the way" who knew how to hustle- and when I say hustle there is not negative intent, I Just mean a person who knows how to make something out of nothing.

I wanna applaud whomever has been by her side from the outset as we all kno no one does it alone. In addition you gotta give it up to Weezy and the whole Cash Money machine for taking the cuffs off. The game is NICKI's and that's as plain as can be.

Who else you know pulls things like this off:

"Saturday’s episode, hosted by The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg, averaged a 3.2rating with adults 18-49 in 25 markets, dominating the time slot and tying with the September 25 season premiere starring Amy Poehler and Katy Perry. It trailed only the January 8 show hosted by Jim Carrey."(rap-up.com)

With all that said, wanna learn how to watch Nicki, she'll show you

PROMISES PROMISES

I for one am tired of hearing about collaboration albums that never come to fruition. News of the day is that Fab and Ne-yo are cohorts on a "Best of Both World" type of album. The idea is very tempting but the execution will probably falter like all the rest. No one ever seems to come through with their promises of a tag teamed full length; yeah we get the singles to rock to, but nothing on the shelves. Why? Well red tape of course would have to be behind it all.

With that being said I would like to extend a public service announcement; rather an industry service announcement- STOP WRITING CHECKS that your label won't let you cash Do us all the favor please

15 MINUTES

The idea 15 minutes- your shot- your finest hour; your moment? What will you do with yours? I think about that all the time. The best part is about it is that you never know when it will come. Well provided you work hard and have faith, its inevitable. Maybe not always in the public eye, but good things do come to those who wait. YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!

Word from the wise- Make the most of it. And above all else, dont follow in these footsteps unless you are seeking controversy:

IT's YO TIME

Like Punchline rap??????

***NEW***** Ricky Rozay

They say life is a B---- but a wiseman knows you have to treat her right. In this day and time my wish is to not make her a widow. Regardless of what color dress she is in, I'd prefer to keep her content with me:

******NEW*****Nicki Minaj feat Drake

I think Carpe Diem is the best way to put it...Seize the time, great moments can be fleeting if not taken full advantage of. As the homey Drake says, "trying to make it more than what it is cause everybody dies but not everybody lives."

Basquiat Presents: Rika the Model

Born Erika Pitner in the BX, this rotten apple native plans to sweeten the core. Offering more than a pretty face, she's NEXT UP; a force to be reckon with. Much more than a female looking to capitalize off her good looks; she's wholesome, ambitious, caring and most of all- REAL. Priding herself on being down to earth and flexible. The ability to bring innovative approaches to the game is priceless. That's RIKA- TGO Model.

Falling in love with being "girly" and captivating through the inspirations of legends like Janice Dickinson and Tyra Banks, she realized a long time ago the impact and the worth of a good picture- a story to be told well worth a thousand words.

On the cusp of achieving her dream- exposure, longevity, Rika sat down to kick it with Basquiat and give you all a piece of her mind to go with the beautiful face.

What made you fall in love with the camera?

The thing that made me fall in love with the camera was the fact that you can tell a story with out words

what are 3 quotes that you live by:

Live, laugh, love; Things happen for a reason; When you think small you get small results

What do you think is the best part of your physical appearance

I have a few and its not fair that I have to choose one lol; but if I had to I would say my legs

Have you been in any publications

Not at the moment but in a matter of time; remember the name RIKA and the face..

Describe your personality

My personality centers around being a loving person; I have a good heart and I love to give back. Also I am a very spontaneous individual and I like to laugh.

What do you look for in a guy?

Honestly, appearance plays a major role. If I'm not attracted to you most likely we will just remain friends. I would say I like men that are humble, very laid back, and most importantly very goal-oriented. Last thing I look for in a man is understanding- me as woman; and be willing to support me no matter what route I choose.

What is romance to you?

Romance to me is the feeling between two individuals with strong chemistry whose love is pure. For example a home cooked meal and a blockbuster night can outdue an expensive night at an restaurant with candle lite dinners

What are some obstacles you have encountered in the business

One of the obstacles that I'm coming across as of now is trying to get noticed. We are in a era where thick females are taking over and my slim figure kind of limits my appeal so to say the males. However, the good thing is that my look does not deter magazines.

Does being attractive have any disadvantages

Yes of course it does. For one by me being a female, men sometimes think with the wrong head lol. A situation happened where I was dealing with a photographer and I was all business and he wanted more. I'm guessing if I was unattractive the situation would of played out differently. Also I'm starting to notice that men get intimidated by my looks. The irony is little do people know, I'm shy. I had to save the best for last by me being attractive men tend to believe that its all looks. THATS NOT ME! That's only one aspect. I'm very intelligent. I have goals and standards. Don't let the looks fool you.

What are your interests outside of modeling

No one knows this but I like to sing. Its just something that I play around with but recently I've been getting more serious about it. Who knows, I might pursue that next

What do you plan on bringing to the modeling game

I plan on bringing hard work and determination with a twist of different looks and styles all the while taking beautiful pictures. I have a story and great ideas that I'm willing to express thru pictures.

Model Specifics:

Height: 5'7
Weight: 120
Waist: 27
Hips: 29inches
Cup: 36b
Shoe size:7
Hair color: Red and black
Hair length: Shoulder length
Eye color: Brown

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I agree, I also tend to believe that its a PERSON that is beautiful. Everything about their portrayal and principles. In todays world, character gets lost in appearance. By no means am I here to promote that. Being well rounded will always take precedence in my book. As such, I bring you GENUINE PEOPLE with GENUINE DREAMS. As I share my mind with you, so do desire the same. Support someone's vision because when its all said and done you're always gonna need someone to support yours.

Well if he did his partner in crime on "I AM MUSIC TOUR II" would be the man that commandeered it. i gotta admit this how rap is supposed to be- bread breaking. Too often in life, especially in music theres a division when collaborating would add to more dividends. Thats exactly why the "EAST" is playing catch up. S &M

Never really thought about it, but Rhi Rhi just might be able to convince me of anything. How bout that. Especially riding like she riding in these new flicks, straight from the set of her new S&M video shoot featuring the homey J Cole. Be on the lookout for that. One thing we can say about babygirl is she got style and she always stays relevant. Even when them sales is down, shes eyecandy and questionably borderline over the top @ times. But is that not what sells? MARKETABILITY yall...Think BIG.

On to the next One

I aint gonna lie I was a little nervous I thought that the homey Wiz got off his superretrofuture swag and fell to the deuce. Now dont get me wrong Amber Rose aint no deuve @ all but at the same time she got baggage, and who prefers that. I'm not here to echo that cliche about well lets say promiscuous individual and a housewife, cause anything is possible....BUT the homey aint need that, want it- yeah, take it- yeah; who wouldn't. Anyone in the room disagree? Ok now that thats solidified. FYI yeah that is Draya in the picture. It was reported last week or so that she lost her kid; I dont wanna pass judgement on the sister until we get all the facts. Fact remains in this case, that shit is FIRE..yes like the one that burns. You and I both know it. And why wouldnt the homey "like to hadda got that" as my man Mike Epps says.

You too would cool out poolside @ the Delano. Im just here to say it.

Mrs Milian- literally

e

You cant front on beauty when you see it. Might be able to question her relationship decisions, but in the end it did PAY OFF. And then we could ask "wheres the music" although her last hit was my joint...Need I remind you?

That was a universal hit, I loved to watch it and the ladies loved to emulate it. Need I say more..... But as you can see she is still very marketable, and worthy of almost any cover! check out the behind the scenes footage with LATINA:

Make it Rain (Remix)

Cam'ron feat Vado- Sour Life

Madea's Big Happy Family

Plot synopsis:

Madea, everyone’s favorite wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners grandma, jumps into action when her niece, Shirley, receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy, Kimberly and Byron are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can’t manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again. It’s up to Madea, with the help of the equally rambunctious Aunt Bam, to gather the clan together and make things right the only way she knows how: with a lot of tough love, laughter…and the revelation of a long-buried family secret.

Welcome to the L'CREME Era

Established in 2000 by designers David Joseph and Sean Wasserman, L'Creme prides itself on innovation and individuality. By fusing the sports, music, and pop culture, L'Creme has embarked on a journey to do what no other brand has ever done. The brain child of two self proclaimed "stylista's" L Creme offers quality T shirts and crewnecks at the moment, but the entire blueprint calls for a full line of articles from jeans to hoodies and more.

Representative of a resurgence in urban streetwear, L'Creme provides hard hitting designs and quality clothing. With longevity in mind, the "Creme d le Creme" is a brand to get familiar with. Not your average, and not looking to be accepted, rather to set the trend for years to come.

I got a chance to interview David, and got some insight on what fashion as a whole is to him, and what he and his partners plight is with their brand. So get in tuned with the line, the brand, the movement....L'Creme

Tell me about yourself, where are you from?

David Joseph, a sports junkie born in Montreal Canada and raised in Queens NY

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashions means everything to me. It's a living, breathing thing.

What do you define your personal style as?

Tough question, lol....I like to mix it up; I fuse different looks together. I may rock a L'Creme crewneck with a button up underneath with a bowtie as well as throw a jean jacket on. I'm an avid sneaker collector, so I like to throw on a pair a Jordan's or Nike's with whatever I'm wearing. Sometimes I wear a pair of Dockers with some Sperry's. It's all about how I feel at that moment. Without a doubt my outfit will tell you how I'm feeling.

How did your environment inspire your personal style?

I learned from the dope boys aka drug dealers as far as getting fly is concerned. They had the best/expensive clothing you can think of. I emulate some of that when I throw on a $1000 dollar coat or $500 dollar shoes; That element of being fly was always appealing to me

When did you realize you wanted to design?

I've always had a passion for clothing and fashion; I can't really pinpoint an exact time specifically but if I had to say I would probably say when I got out of college was when I began to pursue my dream of having a clothing line.

What did you feel was the void in fashion that L'Creme could fill?

Fashion in my Point Of View expressed in a raw manner.

What is your target market?

13 to 34, which is very broad, but with our design I feel anyone at anytime can identify with the clothing; Whether it is a 13 yr. old skater looking for the next cool tee or a 35 yr old sports fan that saw our "Suns" remake and was brought back to that time period.

How did you go about fusing music, sports, and culture in your designs?

By Recreating the sports theme through nostalgia. We tie music lyrics and concepts into a design. We use current or past pop culture phenomenon and create a piece that defines it

Describe the general process you go through to design and then realize a piece?

My partner Sean and I brainstorm an idea we may have gotten from a commercial or by listening to the words of a song. Thats the INSPIRATION portion of it. Once a concept is developed, Sean draws an image of the concept, and we both try and perfect it from there, deciding on the colors and placement. We mock the design with different colors, and then the piece is born.

For example, The wildcat tee is based on a high school gym tee shirt and the reason that the Wildcat was chosen was based on a wild night of fun I had with a group of friends; I referred to that as wildcats night. Thats the PG version (laugh)

What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?

The time and effort you commit to it being perfect.

Fashion is everything. They say first impression is everything, and appearance is key. I am a firm believer in those principles. Its rare that you can find a line, a brand, which you can say identifies everything that you live for and by. L'Creme is here to fill that void; Music, Sports, Pop Culture. our culture, from fly boys to athletes, none will be disappointed. Support the brand of the future- L'Creme

THE BLAME GAME

Is often times mastered by the female gender; its rare that you can find a woman who admits to being wrong in a relationship. By no means is this a justification of the dumb things that us men do. Excuses have no place here, but I just wanted to say that its not always a man's plan for things to go south...Matter of fact let my boys J.E. explain:

Ladies if you don't wanna end up lonely, might be imperative that you see his point of view as well....#imjustsaying

Its easy to grab the phone and tell the whole world when he did wrong, is it just as effortless to admit your faults. As easy to receive the communication that is so important in a relationship when its coming from him, or is it a one way street?
What if it was your turn to sleep on the couch? How would that go over. If the questions to these are giving you a headache, then you might be the female that's being mentioned in this song. TAKE HEED

Did he go too far???

Public Safety is a responsibility of the bus driver but is it protocol to take matters into his own hands? You be the judge.

Hustle Hard (Remix)

Tmes get hard guess what we're gonna do:

A Real Man

What is the definition of man; it might be sad that we would have to look it up, but its definitely necessary. As it stands, many of us, including myself do not know the true meaning. With that being the case we wind up looking for the validation in the wrong places. "A generation lost" is what they are beginning to call us. Are we truly offended? I dont. There's a sense of disappointment in myself as I have to ask what have I done to change things? NOTHING. More often than not I have done more to substantiate it than obliterate the notion.

As a result I've found that I must first LEARN before I can TEACH. UNDERSTAND before I can truly know. I found this piece of the efforts of one man, and happy to say A BLACK MAN, who has begun to put actions with the words. I think its something to be learned from that- talk is cheap. If it could translate to wealth we'd probably all be on the Forbes list. Join me as we are taught the DEFINITION of A REAL MAN- one who has taken a shot at helping to change:

Most of us unfortunately do come from the single parent home that they spoke of and more times than not its a woman holding that household together. Something has to be done about that. "Caring is sharing" I've heard so many times. So i figured I would start the journey today by caring enough to share this with the people who need it most- us- MEN.

I try to get to the scoop before all the ice cream is gone. I was awakened today to the notion that there is a "beef" between Lil Wayne and Hov; I thought to myself "highly unlikely' It wouldn't be in the best interest of either party. But as a good reporter(check me out right) should, investigation is necessary. Thus far I havent found anything that substantiates this thus far "misguided claim" BUT I am a firm believer in where there's smoke there is fire. Without further ado here's todays edition of "watch you mouth youngin":

To true Basketball Fans

You aint never seen nothing like this: Best Dunks of all time

HAS REALITY GONE TOO FAR ?

Dont get me wrong I watch VH 1 as much as the next, well used to, but I do indulge in reality shows; Although I have learned that scripts are present, the shows' substance still are a lot less far-fetched and fictional as regular television, of which I am really only addicted to Law and Order (anyone have a problem with that).
I joke all the time with people and say I am in search of a reality show, just some humor, but theres a cliche that suggests, "there is a little bit of truth in every joke"; Reason being is I feel that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has a reality show now-a-days, and not always deservedly.

Exhibit A: Love in Hip-Hop starring "Swizz Beatz ex-wife Mashonda has landed a starring role in VH1's latest reality show "Love & Hip Hop" about women in the music industry. She will be joined by Fabolous' girlfriend and son's mother Emily Bustamente, and former "First Lady of G-Unit" Olivia.
is th" (courtesy of theybf.com)

check out the promo for the "docuseries':

The series will follow the women as they balance personal relationships and work to make it in the entertainment industry. Emily and Chrissy will be shown trying to lock their men down, while Olivia and Somaya will give viewers a look at what upcoming artists deal with to get ahead in the music industry.

“The show is about strength and womanhood. I’m excited about the show and the women on it,” says Mashonda of the new venture.

There’s no word on whether she will be speaking about her highly publicized divorce from producer Swizz Beatz, but we’re going to go with yes.

FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM....SMH...

Does Love even exist in Hip Hop? Who knows. What we do know is beds and companions are changed faster than musical chairs at a toddler party. We se it in the news everyday who's dating who, and dont forget the honorable mention of whom their former interest was. They never forget that. So I ask, who actually stays together long enough in the industry to find "LOVE"; More often than not the love is found with someone outside of the industry. When was the last red carpet you saw with two celebrities donning each others arms (shout out to J Lo and Mark Anthony, Will and Jada, even Hov and Beyonce,as much as the press tries to find a hole in a seemingly flawless unions.)

I think we all can agree, theres LOVE for HIP HOP but no LOVE IN HIP HOP. The next time you hear of a hot artist being interviewed on your local radio station tune in and you will catch the perverbial "so are you single?" question and the indoctrinated response; "yes I am"; If you're lucky you might get a "there is someone special" but dont hold your breath.

Nah there's no love in hip hop just sex, divorce, alimony, and child support. By the way Nas just got some of his identity back into his bank account, who wouldve thought it.

Everyone has a story, a plight, a purpose, but I just dont think any one of those truths to every person getting their 15 mins to discuss it via a reality show. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Happy B day Mary J.

you should never ask a woman's age but you definitely can congratulate and compliment her when she looks this good and works this hard @ 40...HAPPY B DAY to the QUEEN OF HIP and R&B
