HAS REALITY GONE TOO FAR ?
Dont get me wrong I watch VH 1 as much as the next, well used to, but I do indulge in reality shows; Although I have learned that scripts are present, the shows' substance still are a lot less far-fetched and fictional as regular television, of which I am really only addicted to Law and Order (anyone have a problem with that).
I joke all the time with people and say I am in search of a reality show, just some humor, but theres a cliche that suggests, "there is a little bit of truth in every joke"; Reason being is I feel that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has a reality show now-a-days, and not always deservedly.
Exhibit A: Love in Hip-Hop starring "Swizz Beatz ex-wife Mashonda has landed a starring role in VH1's latest reality show "Love & Hip Hop" about women in the music industry. She will be joined by Fabolous' girlfriend and son's mother Emily Bustamente, and former "First Lady of G-Unit" Olivia.

check out the promo for the "docuseries':
The series will follow the women as they balance personal relationships and work to make it in the entertainment industry. Emily and Chrissy will be shown trying to lock their men down, while Olivia and Somaya will give viewers a look at what upcoming artists deal with to get ahead in the music industry.
“The show is about strength and womanhood. I’m excited about the show and the women on it,” says Mashonda of the new venture.
There’s no word on whether she will be speaking about her highly publicized divorce from producer Swizz Beatz, but we’re going to go with yes.

FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM....SMH...
Does Love even exist in Hip Hop? Who knows. What we do know is beds and companions are changed faster than musical chairs at a toddler party. We se it in the news everyday who's dating who, and dont forget the honorable mention of whom their former interest was. They never forget that. So I ask, who actually stays together long enough in the industry to find "LOVE"; More often than not the love is found with someone outside of the industry. When was the last red carpet you saw with two celebrities donning each others arms (shout out to J Lo and Mark Anthony, Will and Jada, even Hov and Beyonce,as much as the press tries to find a hole in a seemingly flawless unions.)
I think we all can agree, theres LOVE for HIP HOP but no LOVE IN HIP HOP. The next time you hear of a hot artist being interviewed on your local radio station tune in and you will catch the perverbial "so are you single?" question and the indoctrinated response; "yes I am"; If you're lucky you might get a "there is someone special" but dont hold your breath.
Nah there's no love in hip hop just sex, divorce, alimony, and child support. By the way Nas just got some of his identity back into his bank account, who wouldve thought it.
Everyone has a story, a plight, a purpose, but I just dont think any one of those truths to every person getting their 15 mins to discuss it via a reality show. Correct me if I'm wrong.
