Controversy Sells

And somewhere I think that the marketing genius behind the drama @ #summerjam2012 is smiling and sipping a mimosa. Let the Young Money vs. Hot 97 controversy be a reminder to all of you who forgot what MEDIA does. We are now under Marshall Law. The Hip Hop landscape will take a necessary beating in the aftermath of what took place last night, and for very good reason. The value in music has been undervalued for way too long, and the fan has been forgotten. As much and they tell you otherwise, let the facts speak for itself. Do not become blind as a result of the INTERNET AGE. Yes you are important, but so too is the mighty dollar; as well that good old hold-me-down, EGO! What happens when keeping it real goes wrong: the brand is compromised. The mission offset; by what you may ask? I think they call it grandstanding. The Passionists have spoken; or @ least one of their mouth pieces, namely Mr Peter Rosenberg has. With his "Starship" comments, Peter Rosenbeg single handedly ruined Summer Jam 2012. Aside from the "#YMCMB aint doing Summer Jam" retort from Weezy, the entire concert seemingly went into dishevel mode with the re-organizing and ass-kissing that was going on back stage. Intermissions became drawn out, and the crowd's momentum stagnated. Who is Hip Hop? Is it the backpackers who have been displaced in a sense? Is it the females who account for most of the purchasing-trends? Is it the dope boyz who just want that TM103? Are it those that remember the diamond that is "You Just Lost One" from Lauryn Hill. I tip my hat to French Montana for being B.I.G enough to give Mase his 15 minutes; Rozay for being conscious enough to salute true N.Y.C legends Wu-Tang Clan. Slaughterhouse for being honest, but my question remains: Did Big Sean forget who signs his checks? Commercial as you wanna be my brother, you may have to chose a side in this dabacle or forever be outcast ( see Young Buck for reference). With some good P.R. anyone can rebound, if Mr Cee can. What will it take for Rosenbergo to do the perverbial tuck, and try to repair things up @ Emmis? Will Funkmaster Flex show his true colors tonight @ 7PM as he tries to as he promised "Ruin a career" Which I for one knows it is not possible, but I do have to commend him on holding the brand (HOT 97)down and seizing the moment. PUBLICITY PUBLICITY PUBLICITY thats what it is all about. IF YOU HAVE HAPPENED TO FORGET, last night wasa reminder.
