The "Reality" of Working Out by Charity Lynette of Curvy Chick Fitness

During a recent invitation to Jetaime Shoes in Brooklyn by Celebrity Publicist MarieDriven, for a Sip and Shop event, awesome shoes by the way, I was able to get in a some words with the reality stars in attendance. I spent some one on one time with Casey Cartel and Dre P from Love Games season 4, VH1's Elizabeth Ann of Tough Love, Stephanie from Bad Girl's Club Atlanta season 10, Tanisha Thomas Love Games season 4/Bad Girl's Club season 2, and Renee Graziano of Mob Wives. Everyone had their own take on exercising, what motivates them, and body image and being in the industry. I'm going to share their advice on starting the road to a healthier lifestyle and what they do to keep in shape.

The two handsome fellas from Love games, both workout on a regular basis. Casey is a boxer that trains a variety of pro boxers and Dre P hits the weights and gets his cardio in. When I asked the guys what they felt about plus models in the industry, a wide eyed Dre P said "I love a woman with meat on her bones". Casey has much respect to the curvy community and that confidence is key when it comes to stepping into a industry so body conscious. When asked about the pressures of being and staying fit in front of the camera both said that working out is a part of their lifestyle and they workout for themselves and their well being.

Speaking with the fabulous ladies of VH1 and the Oxygen channel about body image and cameras generated different responses. The smaller girls VH1 Elizabeth Ann and Stephanie from Bad Girl's club admitted that they don't like working out in the gym. Stephanie is dancer and that is her way of keeping fit with speaking to her she said she doesn't like to workout running is not her thing. I informed her that dancing is very much so a workout. A workout is not confined to a gym and treadmills in fact I try to keep my clients away from treadmills there is so many ways to get cardio in. Elizabeth flat out says that she does not like to work out. I spoke with her previously during a short consultation via the Curvy Chick Fitness Celebrity Edition. In the past she had a trainer tell her she needs to do an hour on the elliptical machine, treadmill, etc. Ok not sure if you have ever seen this woman but she is about 10% body fat if that! Never in her life does she need to spend an hour on any cardio machine. I told her no wonder you don't like to workout! She admits to not making the time for working out and being slightly jealous of the models in the plus community. "Those girls are looked at as beautiful and confident for being able to be who they want and they can eat!" I told her the pressure to look a certain way in this industry is there whether you are a straight sized or plus size. Plus models and entertainers are are usually trying to get down to a smaller, but still considered plus, version of themselves.

So during this Sip and Shop event Ms. Renee Graziano  came in fashionably late with a ...ice cream crunch bar! Soon as she walked in I knew I had to talk to her. She was as cute as she could be trotting in munching away. Before long the photo opportunities took over and was forced to put the treat down half eaten. Having a weight loss surgery started her journey but being a recovering addict has made the journey harder then need be. She now works with a trainer and a nutritionist on a regular basis to help her along this process. Her biggest piece of advice is to work with a nutritionist  so you can understand food and what it does to your body then you can make better choices.

I hope that picture of me talking to Tanisha Thomas will give you an inkling of how hilarious this woman is, non stop laughter! She feels that plus models don't get the respect they deserve which is why she is coming out with a plus line in January called Plush. Tanisha voiced that she is healthy and has no medical needs calling her to lose weight until the doctor tells her to worry that's when she will worry. Tanisha admitted that she thinks Hollywood wants her to be smaller but she doesn't care what society wants her to do she's going to keep doing Tanisha. She know's plenty of people half her size with all kinds of medical problems so just because a person is smaller than some one else does not mean they are healthier.

There are numerous ways to get started on this healthy lifestyle journey. First off know its a journey and it is not going to happen overnight. Casey explain's that loving yourself first is key. Once you have confidence in your corner then the world is yours and you can set out to accomplish any goal. This is so very important in accomplishing anything. Stephanie spoke on having a game plan, know what your goal is and have realist expectations. That way your not disappointed if thing don't go exactly they way you want. I agree with both Casey and Stephanie but this fit curvy chick's number one advice is to take one goal at a time so that you can celebrate each of your victories. That way you are building your confidence with each goal that you meet and you can always have a proud moment with yourself.

I hope this article finds you in good health if not I hope it helps get you there!
