Whose bias do you seek
Socrates asked whose bias do you seek, The Throne repeated and I wonder how many chose to feast in that food for thought. I have questioned myself more and more recently in the manner of "whose opinion really matters" as I do self inventory and wage this war on life and the hope for longevity, and with it success. I place no judgement before the most highs yet I am willing to and understand the importance of being grounded in a sense; put a better way- although many subscribe to the statement " I dont care what no one thinks" I dont.
It is impossible to gain any ground without acceptance of the #FACT that A)opinion does matter and B)image is everything. "Why" you might ask. For better or worse originality is fading, and with that goes subjective thinking. What we agree with today is the product of objective influences and dare I say all forms of marketing. WHat we wear, is what we see on billboards and in publications, or on our peers. WHat we eat is suggested by the amount of stars on the foyer glass of restaurants, what recite musically is a production of oversaturation and under-diversified radio playlists.
What we love we are shown, not always what we know. Do you disagree? So again I ask as did Socrates, "whose bias do you seek"
Do I seek the partiality of my friends? YES. Do i seek impartiality from strangers- YES. On both a large and small scale. For some years now I have been processing the reality of branding, or our capitalistic/materialistic/ consumerist society. If you havent i suggest you do so and when in doubt do not fall prey to the "I dont care what anyone thinks" paradigm because trust me sooner or later you it will be imperative of you that you submit; why not be early rather than on time. Preparation is paramount.
Gossip for those who like Gossip
As well as Basketball wives fans....Check out Shaunie O'Neal's interview with Power 92 Fm in Chicago givig up the details on next season:
Also, in her blog for Hollywoodlife.com check out what Jennifer had to say about Part 1of the reunion and some:
"The reunion show is always a great time to recap with my castmates, laugh and sometimes argue. After all this is Basketball Wives so you know we have our fair share of drama!
Let me just get this topic out the way! Royce is irrelevant! I refuse to waste another ounce of breath on her. She just doesn’t get it! Royce is always starting some drama and I am at a point in my life where I am trying to get rid of drama and any negative influences. It boils down to myself, Shaunie and Evelyn not wanting to film with her because she is so full of drama. Other than her “movie role” with Eric, she doesn’t have much of a story line. I am certain she doesn’t want to talk about her new boyfriend that just had a baby with another woman while we were filming and we all know Dwight Howard has a gag order on her! Ok moving on…
As far as Meeka goes she just needs to shut the hell up! Her mouth is what got her in trouble in the first place. She claims she doesn’t want to be in “the circle” but isn’t that the very reason she came on the show? She should start thinking and choose her words more carefully so she can stop putting her foot in her mouth!
The incident with Eric is very unfortunate, however it was just a firm confirmation that I am moving in the right direction. Everyone wants to say, “Well I would have done this or what took you so long?” No one can really say what he or she is going to do and/or react until they are in your shoes. I feel Eric ended our relationship with a coward move. Yes, yes I did throw a drink first. I was frustrated our discussion didn’t resolve anything about our impending divorce but I never hit him with the drink nor did I intend to hit him with the drink. The manner and forcefulness in which he threw that drink at me, not to mention hit my chin surprised the hell out of me! Again, another negative aspect and chapter of my life I am ready to close. I could have retaliated and threw a chair or flipped a table but I prefer to bow out gracefully.
Closing one chapter and opening up another one, DATING!!!! I am having fun dating. Will and I had fun at my divorce/independence party but that is where it started and ended. He is a friend, nothing more. I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment. My main priority is business and myself! I am focusing most of my attention on my new lip gloss line, Lucid Cosmetics available at www.lucidcosetics.co m. But a girl deserves to play a little bit and go on a few dates.
Friendships like relationships go through ups and downs. It’s a part of life. Basketball Wives captures the good, the bad and the ugly at times. I believe it is how you bounce back. Can our friendships withstand this crazy world of reality TV? Stay tuned for next week to see how the Basketball Wives Reunion concludes for Season 3"
VH1 airs part 2 of the reunion on Monday at 9pm ET

Back on her grind
Basquiats Mind Presents......Miss Ross
Big City dreams for a small town girl. One could say thats what did it. Maybe, maybe not. How do you put a starting point on something that has always been there. In this case, its the confidence with which she approaches every task in life. At the moment it just so happens to be an aim at holding the industry hostage. All vixens beware. The North Carolina native, turned New York City whirlwind by the name of Ross has come up; from humble beginnings which include fashion design stints at some of the Creme de la Creme firms in the design world. GIRL POWER, something like Beyonce mentions when she speaks of who runs the world, but for Ross its much deeper. GIRL POWER which equates pride with service, with each one teaching one. More than a physical appeal you are undeniably drawn to her character, her principles.
From Party to Party, event to event, she has become familiar all the while plotting. " I got in everywhere, no line, straight to the VIP..people were attracted to my body. #FACT remains, how could a person not be; Furthermore however, Ross is substance. A voice as she calls it; an educated WOMAN. An icon in the making. Why dream small when you have the potential to do it BIG. With a story to share, a work ethic she could write a book about and a renewed push, Ross is here to stay.
Plans on being a role model, all the while being an example of fortitude. She too has seen the ups and downs in life, having survived. The newest Talk of New York suggests that you get used to her, after all she's gonna be here for the long haul. With her Management and PR, RheaElisia, Ross' brand is on the brink of breaking social barriers, peer pressure, and being the new face of entertainment.
Join me as I sit down with Ross, as I along with she introduces the MISS ROSS movement....Enjoy:
When did you realize that you wanted to turn your appeal could into a career?
Coming from a fashion background, I learned that first impressions are crucial. The majority of people I know, know me for my image. I love being personable, I love people. I have an undeniably addictive personality.
How do you plan on being more than a pretty face or so- called video vixen?
Thats easy, By being myself....Fitting in is cool but I believe that standing out is more appealing. My quest for finding myself has been a beautiful journey thus far. I just want to be able to share with you.
You mentioned the importance of being a positive role model to young women, what are some of the things that you want to warn your sisters about?
I want my peers and the younger generation of girls to always follow their heart. In addition to that, I want them to always be loyal to themself and make their own choices in life, regardless of what others will think or say.
Have you been in any publications as of yet?
Publications are coming soon....
I see you are from NC, thats a big jump, what sparked the transition?
Jay-Z said in a song that "I came I saw and. Conquered"....I had a dream so I followed it. I always ask people 'What if you had one chance, would you take it?'
What are your long term goals?
Beyond everything else my goal is to tell my story. I want to share my dreams, and with that I would love to be in a position to influence the world. I know that may sound cheesy but I'm a sagattarius and we always see the bigger picture.
what are your measurements?
Here comes the fun part....I am a FIERY 36, 28, 48
Was being scrutinized so often growing up disheartening?
I saw myself so nothing else matters
You have a quote that reads, "no one understands why I am truly here" whats that about?
At the time I felt like No one heard me. To battle that I took it upon myself, and still do, to show the world what I am capable of.
When its all said and done what willl your legacy be?
I can't tell you what my legacy is; I feel like my journey hasn't even begun but when its all said and done, I will be among the greats like Oprah, Bill Gates, Mother Theresa
