Eddy Curry to Sign with the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat, in search of weighs to bolster their lineup and get over the hump are set to take a chance with a roster spot and contract for Former New York Knicks Center Eddy Curry. The childhood prodigy, High School Superstar, if you remember was selected in the lottery of the 2001 NBA draft with the 4th pick by the Chicago Bulls. With a career average of 13 points, stat wise Eddy Curry is nothing short of a formidable and very serviceable big man, last starring for the Knicks, averaging 19.5 ppg in the 2006 season.

In more recent times tragedy and disappointment has struck for the 7'0" former manchild from the Chicago area; A Sexual harassment suit from his former chaffuer, and the untimely deaths by way of homicide for his daughter and ex-girlfriend. To say that he has had to deal with a lot is an understatement, all the while dealing with cardiac problems, as well as chronic problems as it pertains to trying to get into basketball shape. At one point in recent times, Eddy Curry had ballooned to well over 325 pounds which is a far cry from his playing(efficiently, that is) weight of about 280 lbs.

Despite these road blocks, redemption is within reach for Eddy, as the Miami Heat who have flirted with the idea for much of this year, are reportedly going to take a leap of faith and sign him to a deal. Miami itself has a need, as its frontcourt has been dessimated by the departure of Jamaal Magliore, not to mention age catching up with Juwan Howard and Erick Dampier; both of whom were not the presence that Miami needed during its finals match up with the Dallas Mavericks this past June.

Will Eddy Curry be the answer? Only time will tell. His trainer, Tim Glover, this past October was reported as saying that Eddy is in "great shape" (according to cbssports.com) and was projected to be ready to join a roster when the lock out ended. Well the time is now, and may not be revisited if Eddy doesnt step up to the plate. How more fitting can it be to have the opportunity to make an impact on a title contender, alongside the big 3 in South Beach
