"Life can certainly be no crystal staircase. But like a golden thread, music can be woven into the fabric of our lives to enhance us, lift us, and give purpose and enabling us to give voice to experiences we all share."

Such is the personification of singer/songwriter/lyricist Charles C.P. Caldwell.

I Am One of A Kind groupmember Charles CP Caldwell has released his Chocolate Project solo effort to much applause and acclaim. In an effort to further brand their collective artistry, as well as individual talent, IAMOOAK stands behind their bandmate in support of his setting  the stage which will see releases from the rest of the members in anticipation of a group full-length CD due out late 2013.

About CP

Born and raised in Bronx, NY, Charles Alexander Caldwell has always used music as his salvation. When troubling times and tribulations tugged at his resolve, there was the pen. Becoming the most therapeutic means to release, CP began to compose lyrics that spoke to his innermost thoughts and feelings about the world that he lived in and the one that he dreamed of. Having always been influenced by the music that played so frequently in his families home where he grew up, under the tutelage of his uncle CP developed a profound passion for music and performance. One of his crowning moments came as he was accepted into the Harbor School for Performing Arts, on a singing scholarship; it was there that he expanded his skill set to that of poet, which was followed by such accomplishments as a 10-city tour of Italy as a member of the choir.

As a teen his family moved to Eastchester, NY where he learned more about himself as well as the business of life, and industry. His ambition fueled his high school years, as he excelled in the classroom, earning acceptance to the much heralded St John’s University. Struck once again by tragedy (CP was the victim of 3^rd degree burns over 95 % of his body as an adolescent) his father passed, a mere one week before he received his HS diploma. Pouring himself into his art, Charles began to profess his craft to all those that would listen and soon was rewarded with the recognition of and reverence for his talent.

 

Circa 2002, I Am One Of A Kind was born, along with his founding partner Deacon Jackson, and a recording career commenced.

“Eclectic”and “Soulful” are two of the qualities that come to mind when you think of CP. As a lyricist, actor, writer, and more he is indeed a total package of entertainment and professionalism.

 

"Music is my passion and my passion runs deep within the core of my soul and without music, I would not be the person I am now; so this is not a job for me, this is a way of life.”- C.P.

With influences such as Michael Jackson, Al Jareau, Anita Baker, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross, Boys II Men, and Stevie Wonder, it is understood where his studious approach and application derives from. Following in the footsteps of legends is his goal.

Recently I got the chance to check out Get Signed Magazine's "Press Play Artist Series" @ Public Assembly. There definitely was alot of talent in the room but the one artist who stood out the most was Bronx own Jay Lam. With his "in your face" showmanship and unique punch lines it is clearly evident to see that this kid is no rookie. On Sunday June 30th at Free Candy in Brooklyn, NY the crowd was treated to a high energy performance by the Canarsie, Brooklyn based team Beekay Entertainment. From the time you meet artist Statz, Remedy, Cife-Man & Mackalevin the energy was high. They know that this rap music is their life and they welcome you into the Beekay Circle. Before they started to perform they met with media in the green room and talked about the team and how much projects they plan on working. They want everyone to know from Music, to film to business ventures, Beekay is about their business. The team has several leaders and several of them are performers as well, they stated when you work with them they are focused and willing to work with anyone that is about their business.

As the performance started it was obvious that they had true fans in the crowd. As they came out to perform each of them came out to screams of their name and applause. Cameras was flashing everywhere.

First Statz came out and the crowd sang with him. His energy was like he has been on stage forever. Working up a sweat but not missing a beat he continued on. Calling up team members seem to be the energy that they needed to continue through a exhausting performance. Next was Cife-Man one of the leaders of the team and a high energy performer. He left it all on the stage and the crowd couldn't get enough. Just when you might have been ready to "Turn Down" hitting the stage was Remedy with a energy that you may have not been ready for. Smoke filled the stage and he just went in from the word go. The crowd loved it. Ending the show was the crowd pleaser and you can tell ladies man of the group "Mackalevin". You can see why they save him for last. Someone has to make sure the crowd is still ready to party. These gentlemen left it all on sage and really showed why Beekay, is a force in the rap game.

Most artist would leave after performance but these artist stuck around and took pictures with fans and signed autographs. All in all you want to make sure and keep checking for these talented young men.
