Beyonce feat J Cole
They say good things come to those who wait. I heard a remark from Hov that signing with Roc Nation means that you have the patience necessary to build your brand and your buzz. No one has done a better job of that than J Cole; seemingly placed under heavy pressure being co-signed by "the big homey" but J Cole has handled it well, perfecting his flow and grind. The pay off: a big release; And might we say a big look here on the remix to Beyonce's "Party" Check it out here:

Basquiats Mind Presents......Gigi Be Me
In a world where keeping up wit the jones' has become the norm, it is refreshing to encounter someone who is so consumed with the authenticity of being original that they'd rather do nothing else than to be THEMSELF. Inspired by creativity and innovation, Gigi Be Me is exactly that. The producer, artists, actor, and so much more in a grand voyage; That voyage is to success. With each passing day, each moment, branding HERSELF. Not an image, not a facade, simply Gigi. With her latest release, her little baby as she calls it, Gigi is poised to have you as enamored with her existence as she is. Through good music, as well as other ventures, Gigi Be ME is here to stay. Forever remaining at the pulse of what and who is next, stand notice as GX MEDIA presents.....Gigi Be ME
Basquiat: the name Gigi Be Me is very creative? sounds like an ode to individuality, where did you come up with it?
Gigi BeMe:Well I was inspired by a great artist friend of mine Eliza B Art...Originally she coined her name Eliza B, which simply means that she is alive, she exist. I found confidence in that because all my life I have been inspired by women who were not afraid to be themselves...and when contemplating my place in this industry I found there is no one like me and I don't want to be like anyone else, so I simply can only be me...GiGi BeMe
Basquiat: Where are you from originally?
Gigi BeMe: Originally I am from the mid-west...Indiana. I relocated to NYC after experiencing some success in the midwest with Poetry and spoken word. I worked with a poetry group that transcended into a r&b neo-soul group that had influences from hip hop and pop. We felt like we should expand because clearly there were more opportunities here, we moved to NYC and history is being made.
Basquiat: You wear a lot of hats songwriter, entrepeneur, producer, model, which one is your true passion?
Gigi BeMe: Producing is my true passion...I love the feeling of giving information, the feeling of entertaining groups of people with a calculated intention that they may not have anticipated. I love creating and producing is one of the highest forms of creativity. In the industry, most artist have to take their work to a producer to get it out there...I hate waiting on people. I like to just do...producers do!
Basquiat: How do u capitalize on your sass and wit?
Gigi BeMe: Your wit can take you pretty far in life... I personally see myself capitalizing on my sass and wit specifically when I am acting and producing my talk show. Although I plan to address some pretty serious issues dealing with our society, I have a great sense of humor and plan to use that sense of humor and wit as I communicate with the masses.
Basquiat: You have a new single out correct, tell us about it?
Gigi BeMe: Yes I do..my little baby Boom Boom. It is a fun and sassy song that has some serious playful aspects to it that really capture the lane I am in. Pop music tends to be my favorite to create and I just love this song.
Basquiat: What are some of the projects/ ventures you have to your credit?
Gigi Be Me: I've done so many things over the years...one of most successful shows I've produced in New York is a Tribute to Thelonious Monk, in which Bill Cosby was my host. My tickets sold very successfully and Thelonious's son even attended and played drums. But I have placed second in the mid west region with the team in the national Slam competition, I played Lena Horne last summer on Off Broadway, which was a great experience. I performed all throughout the city with Lyrical Fusion and Black Rebel Indians. I even had a chance to be in the Run This Town video, which it was fabulous being able to meet Jay Z.. He is my favorite.
Basquiat: You are an extreme humanitarian I understand, how did you realize that calling?
Gigi Be Me: When I was young, I was awkward..I didn't fit in with the in crowd. I think it began then, the compassion for people that are different than you or misunderstood. As I grew, so did my empathy and compassion for other human beings. I have grand ideals and concepts for the world but they will develop at the right time and place. Like building schools and restructuring communities.
Basquiat: How'd you hook up wit chris Rodgers on the track Boom Boom?
Gigi Be Me: I worked really hard for several years to gain the attention of a producer by the name of Genard Parker...once I convinced him to take a chance on me, he introduced me to Chris and we got to work. And Boom Boom was born.
Basquiat: Where do you see your brand settling @ in the next 5 years?
Gigi Be Me: I see myself expanding in entertainment by branching off into some serious acting and hosting. Being a television host is one of my biggest dreams. Soon come, soon come.
Basquiat: Where can people catch you and your music/ some of the other ventures you have a hand in?
Well right now, no I mean that, this very minute you can go to itunes and cop Boom Boom, I swear it will be the best 99 cents you have ever spent. just type in GiGi BeMe and Boom Boom and you can have me right there in your home. We are working on a college tour and a video. The video should be available on my youtube channel gigibeme all one word, in a month or so or I can keep you abreast by following me @gigibeme on twitter or fb.

Estelle and Don Cannon Present: All Of Me the Prequel
You might have watched the B.E.T. cypher and thought that Estelle rapping was a fluke; Be assured it was not! As proof you can check out her latest offering, which is a warmup for her album titled All of Me; Her Don Cannon hosted Mixtape AOM: The prequel includes 12 tracks of estelle both singing and rapping. Some are original work, and some are E-mixes of popular songs like Lloyd’s “Cupid” and Young Jeezy’s “Circulate,” and her two hip-hop remixes to “Break My Heart.”
Lil Wayne Covers GQ Music Edition
You can say what you want about Lil Wayne, whether or not you agree with his proclamation to be the best rapper alive is a matter of opinion; What is not, is his work ethic. Furthermore you can add in his progress. I'm sure you remember as well as I the earlier Cash Money days when in all reality Wayne was not the focal point. The undisputed stars of the camp were Juvenile and B.G. as solo acts, and then the Hot Boys collective. Wayne was at the time, for all intents and purposes a good learner. He made a knack out of watching what came with the stardom and mastering his lane, his flow, his act. Yes the rumors have swirled about his getting assistance with the pen, and I dont really have an opinion on that; The proof is always in the pudding. HOWEVER the dish being served up now-a-days comes from out of the YMCMB kitchen. Can anyone argue with that?
Fan or not you must celebrate Lil Waynes ascension into ICONIC, yes I said it- ICONIC status. Up there with the dare I say, TOP 5 RAPPERS EVER. His accomplishments are hard to match. We all hold on to the greats of yester year, our deceased heros who dominate arguably the TOP 2 spots. I say arguably because my list is slightly different. But again it is all matter of opinion. #FACT lies in the catalog, the resume,if you will; and Dwayne Carter's is grade A. Check him out on the cover of GQ's Music Edition.

Basquiats Mind Presents......Young Dougie
Time and time again you hear about the death of hip hop, the declination of music in general. Although some people's opinions are valid, you cannot ignore the fact that Music in all genres is here to stay. It is still at the pulse of culture, and ever-expanding. Through up and coming acts, and overall visionary approaches by musicians and artists alike. As a fan, I can say that my hope has been restored and I look forward to the future.
The future being the next crop of artists ready to cement their place amongst the previously acclaimed. One person who is doing so is Young Dougie. The Poughkeepsie MC has been at it for a while perfecting not only his craft and delivery but his business savvy. A continuous grind and hit records is his focus, on the way to making it as he calls it "Youngs World." I caught up with Young Dougie recently after his performance at Monse's Showcase @3 the Milk Lounge in Harlem . We kicked it about a lot of things, his caribbean background and the influence of the culture on his artistry, his goals in music and the business itself.
Wise beyond his years to say the least, Young Dougie is definitely primed and ready for the spotlight, and I am convinced as well as you will be that he will sustain- one hit at a time. Without further adue, I present....Komrade Entertainments Own- Young Dougie:
1. How have you found a way to incorporate your Belizean culture into your music?
I have done so by utilizing the styles and visuals of legendary artist like BobMarley and Beres Hammond. Their melody was ill, more monodic, more alive;something that i fell in love with and naturally it became a part of my artistic swagg.
2. How do you tackle the elements of the flashing lights of NYC in your music?
I jus look at the reality of things now. Just like this industry or any industry for that matter, the fact is that everything that glitters is not gold; I am inspired by it all, it's dope, it's cool to entertain but at the end of the day i keep in mind it's just flashing lights, it isn't what defines me as a person. I create my own shine, and remain humbled by the love.
3. Whats the science behind Komrad Entertainment?
Komrad…hmmm, simply put, we're family period! We've always been Brother's before business. True Komraderie is so difficult to come by now a days, so when it's encountered amongst real dudes you embrace it wholeheartedly. All we got is us, and we keep that in the front of our mind..FAMILY.)
4. Who were some of your influences in music?
To be honest its too many to mention. I Love lyrics so with that said I would have to narrow it down to the Legends. Artists ike Nas, Pac,big, Jay Z, Rick James, Marvin Gaye, and Smokey Robinson, The greats, people who have laid the blueprint for artistry. We dont have all day but I could go on and on about influences.
5. What's the process for you of creating a track? Do you listen to the beat first or Come up wit a concept then apply a beat to that?
I kind of got an interesting strategy, check it out: while the producer is making the beat or pulling up the track I roll up; After that I dim the lights,or turn them off. Once that banging beat put on repeat, I start to zoning then bomb! Music is natural for me brother, I love it and the process of song making just comes to me.
6. What artists and producers have you worked with thus far?
I have worked with a number of noteworthy artists. To name a few: The L.O.X. as well as King Phaze. In terms of Producers,I have worked with some heavy hitters like Flash Beats from Germany, and the brother Telivision from PK. Also I cant forget Hiden Beats from Tokyo.
7. When did you realize that music was your calling?
I have always had a unique love for it but honestly I didn't realize it was my calling until everything else fell through and it was decision making time. That had to be about my senior year of High School.
8. Where have you performed and what other publications have you been featured in?
I've performed @ Club La Hacienda in Newburgh NY; I have performed @ the Milk Lounge in
Manhattan as a part of Hot 97's Monse Showcase; Club Ciboneys in Poughkeepsie, NY; The Loft in Poughkeepsie NY, Club Pyramid in Manhattan NY, End of the Week, Training Camp in Manhattan NY. We're just grinding man at the end of the day. Still moving still locking up shows in. Forthcoming we are looking at collaborationg with "Don Diva magazine"
9. Where can the people get your music? contact you?
They can find me on several outlets:
http://soundcloud.com/youngdougie
http://www.reverbnation.com/dougiesworld
http://www.datpiff.com/Young-Dougie-Back-By-Popular-Demand-mixtape.219804.html
10. Whats up next for Young Dougie?
The future is real bright, It's all coming together as a result of staying focused and working hard. First and foremost I am so thankful to AllAh for my team. Coming up we're getting it in with more appearances, more shows, and expanding the brands: Komrad Entertainment, and Young Dougie through networking and making good music. My mindframe is always progressive.
