Meek Mill feat Rick Ross - Going to Work

Vado on the Breakfast Club

I have seem to develop a love/hate relationship with thing of ours called HIP HOP. Times like these is when I definitely HATE it. Reason being, I think that HIP HOP is taking a turn for the worst when nothing is concrete anymore. For example check the homey Vado interview with the Breakfast Club out:

Is it me or does something not seem right? None of his answers are assertive, or definitive. In terms of the deal, "oh yeah I'm on Interscope." Where was the announcement, or the celebration? Did I miss something. I would think after the grind, and the music he would be able to hang his hat on that one.

Charlemagne said it best, " I dont want a lapse; We get Slime Flu 2 and then the album doesnt come out until next Winter." I got a lot of respect for the way the brother conducts himself and I just hope his mannerisms havent pigeon holed him into only being Cam's sidekick, and a mixtape artist. We need that album, the return of HARLEM. Bring on the Dipset album and all. #wesupportours.

Kimora is a bad Motha...

Check out the Hounsou and Simmons family celebrating Thanksgiving. Might not seem uncommon to most, but how often do you see this except on Real Housewives of Atlanta. And secondly, doesnt Kimora still go by Russell's last name? #wouldntbeme

Creative or Foolery?????

Pretty Ricky is back at it: Pacman your Body, ladies you feeling this?

DO IT FOR THE LOVE

Of money that is, or maybe each other. Either way its adding up with commas. VH1 has given a spinoff to Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada and her mate Calvin Ochocinco Johnson. Reportedly the spin off showcases the monts leading up to their wedding. Does anyone know when that will be? As my aunt would say, "Dont get me to lying" Well hey I always say you cant knock a person thats getting paper. And she definitely is, after threatening the producers of BBW to leave once again, they conceeding with other perks including filming of her role in BBW to be scheduled around her daughters school schedule. Question: Isn't her daughter grown and in college? Well if they like it Im sure you all will love. Enjoy!

MEET THE NEW BASKETBALL WIVES

Last night was the reunion for season 2 of Basketball Wives L.A. *snore* and continuing in her whirlwind of reality TV domination, Shaunie is right back @ it with the next season of the original Basketball Wives, which is currently being filmed in both Miami and New York.

Recently the announcement of the 2 replacements, for Meeka Claxton has been announced. If you all remember, Meeka was not well received, and very controversial, and in conclusion had to go.

MEET THE NEWEST HOUSEWIVES...
In this corner we have former Miss Michigan USA, estranged wife of Michigan State Spartan star, and current Golden State Warrior Charlie Bell, the lovely yet feisty Kenya Bell. If you remember, Kenya was arrested this past May for stabbing Charlie in front of their 2 children, and subsequently released on $5,000 bond after being charged with domestic violence as well as assault with a deadly weapon. Rumor has it that she has already been getting into the mix of things, aka beefing on the show. You can only use your imagination to guess who.

And in this corner we have the lovely ex-fiance of San Antonio Spurs guard Richard Jefferson, Kesha Bell. Kesha was the victim of Richards presumed cold feet, as he left her at the altar after the two meet when Jefferson was starring for the New Jersey Nets, and Kesha was a cheerleader.

MY OPINION.....
I almost got ahead of myself and expected better than this here, but common sense prevailed and I remembered its for entertainment purposes only. Of course they would make selections like this; on the one hand, no disrespect to Kesha but she's irrelevant. Sad about what happened to her but lets be serious, and Kenya Bell....

My question is would they allow a man whom had committed a domestically violent act to heightened his brand and further his career. Miss Michigan aside (for the sake of the argument) what is her claim to fame? And furthermore, should Shaunie and VH1 be rewarding her behavior? You be the judge.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL

Check out Nicole Ari Parker covering the Holiday issue of DENIM MAGAZINE

Even more beautiful than outward, she displays her inner-exquisiteness when speaking on the day that began forever with hubby Boris Kodjoe:

"When Boris walked into our first rehearsal i thought of him as the really hot guy that got to play my boyfriend in the first couple of episodes. But for some reason we connected and found it easy to talk to each other and laugh and be comfortable…and then i married him. Vanessa called it from the beginning, just like a real sister would, “you know he’s feeling you right?’ instigating..”nuh-uh” I said. “Yuh-huh, watch.. that’s your man right there.” and the rest is history. A$AP Rocky

Ive been getting mixed reviews from a lot of people as I have asked for feedback on the seemingly overnight rise of the ASAP Crew, and its leader A$AP Rocky. Doubt if you will, what cannot be overlooked is the fact. #FACT is them boys are hot, and why well thats as simple as the old recipe- DILIGENCE! How I like to carry it is, support all that put in the work. Now a days thats what I am all about, the grind, the hustle. Success comes to those who want it and then have the courage to pursuit. In the words of DJ Drama, "one night I had a dream, it was that I would make some money doing what I love. At first it was a struggle but you know I caught that B-"

#standnotice

Check out one of the hardest workers in the business A$AP Rocky alongside a bonified star, any questions? HARLEM STAND UP!

And in case you didnt know, the whole A$AP crew is on the road as a part of the Club Paradise tour with Drizzy. Coming to a city near you.

A Dream Chaser 'Going to Work'

When you're hot you're hot, and when you grind good things come. If memory serves me correct about a year or two ago the homey Meek Millz was grinding like the rest of us just getting his name out there. With the necessary work and focus look how far he has come and now he has his city on his back, along with some others; nevertheless the brother is doing his thing and I for one, lyricism aside respects his hustle and the way he goes about it. There's always the sense of appreciation and gratitude as well as a love and remembrance of where he came from. If you look around MMG might be the only ones with that grade A; In recent times if you want a hit you are better served adding someone from off that roster. Just like last week collabing with Cory Gunz, Meek is back @ it again. Check out the behind the scenes footage of his newest, a feature on Ludacris' Say it to my face

Parle Magazine Presents: Georgia- A ONE WOMAN PLAY

“When You Know, You Know…?”

GEORGIA maneuvers through love after rape. After a young couple survives this quiet violence, the play shows the staggered reality of what happens when our emotional development catches up to the definitive moments in our relationships. GEORGIA shows how a single thrust unlocks different answers to the same question. A one-woman, four-character play, GEORGIA forces an analysis of opposing viewpoints through the vulnerability of the main character; the generational consciousness of her best friend; the matured perspective of an immigrant parent and finally, from the gendered posturing of a young man. GEORGIA investigates the windows of good, evil and the sometimes blurry lines in between.

Frequently asked questions about Georgia:

Why did you name the play Georgia?

Georgia is the main character’s first name.

How long have you been working on it?

Georgia first came to me as a thought in 2006. I meditated on it for a while. Maybe about a year. I have been writing longer than I have been acting so at first it started in the form as a book. In Fall 2009, I took a solo performance class at Fordham University called “Flying Solo,” and Georgia evolved into a full blown play.

How did the concept for it come about?

I had questions. What happens when you love your enemy? What happens when your enemy loves you? Is there such a thing as both good and evil, or just one and the absence of another? What is truth? Does it exist? If so, how? These are a few of the questions that propelled me to write Georgia.

What makes this story different from others with similiar topics?

Georgia is unique in that it explores the varying perspectives of multiple characters through this one body, one voice, of one actor. There is something very telling about the many stories you can get from one story. I think that usually with serious topics such as this there is an implulse to take a side. Georgia stifles that impulse.

What do you hope people will get from the play?

I hope that Georgia will make people squint a little- to see themselves, and others, more clearly.

EYES ON THE THRONE

More than watching the throne, I definitely had my eye on it. Synonomous with all things of grandeur, what I saw last night was success, progress, and if nothing else the power of artistry and creativity. There was a point in the show, when performing H to the izzo, after the line "I'm raping Def Jam till I'm the 100 million man" when Hov remarked "I told you so"; It was at that point that I had to agree.

As a fan I remember the hits, as I student I always paid attention to the Blueprint; more than an album, it became a series; more than a series it served as the ideal map. As the result of a meteoric rise, the marketing plan was a lifestyle, one that would be able to be turned from negative into positivity. Yes a lot of dollar signs were involved, but let us not forget that pride we find in a yankee hat that was made famous as only he can, let us not forget the lanes that were opened as he bought substance and reasons; reasons why he will forever be remembered as the true G.O.A.T. No disrespect to Mr Smith but hands down the numbers done lie. Look beyond the portfolio into the stands of the sold out Izod Center. 15K plus fans whom rocked and repeated bar for bar 3 hours strong.

Rick Ross said it best, "a boss is one who guarantees we gone eat". I like to take it a step forward and say that a boss is one who opens the lane for others to make their own plate. Who has done it better than Hov? If you need a justification for that, there is none greater than the example of the heights that the brand Roc-A-Fella has soared; in more recent times on the back of its biggest star at the moment, Kanye West. Mr everything I like to call him, from music mogul to fashion icon, to overall media giant. There is not a thing that Ye does that is not news. From everything that is G.O.O.D about music, to everything that we wish we had the opportunity or courage to accomplish or say in life

Leather skirt clad, with only the most of fashionable threads, donned like no other couled except for maybe Lil Wayne, ye ran through the gamut of his classics, everything from "Can't tell me Nothing" to "Gold digger" before getting the greatest of advice from Hov to as the two exchanged hit after hit. Young reminded him that there can @ times in this life be "99 problems, but a chick aint one"

Ye rocked the crowd with an ode to true love; the kind that consumes you to the point that you may ask the question why hasn't one ran away after losing their soul to someone so heartless. Maybe it was the affect of the flashing lights that makes you stronger. I don't know.

As I sat with a birds eye view of THE THRONE, I cannot lie at times I caught myself doing a little more watching than anything. Its such an inspiring thing when in the company of greatness. Miles away from the Hard knock life, I sat and observed the guy who reminded us all where he came from, with his New York State of Mind, partnered with the Louis Vuitton Don; the two of them, throne in tact, epitomizing the fact that diamonds are indeed, FOREVER.

Its My Ambition

Wale seemingly got off to the fast track with his career, with his first single featuring arguably the biggest female artist globally in Lady Gaga, a huge backing from Music Mogul Mark Ronson and a deal with the man himself Jimmy Iovine, and powerhouse label Interscope Records. However things did not pan out as he or any of us would expect. What he left us with, songs like "Pretty Girls" gave substance to his existence in the game of rap, and what he has done henceforth has solidified. Now with Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group, and being part of arguably the hottest foursome in hip hop, MMG, Wale is right in the place that he always thought he would be. When its all said and done you will love him for his Ambition, as he proclaims, and "I doubt that will ever change."

Check the D.C. native out as he kicks it with Rolling Out Magazine.

Do remember his album,Ambition, is Available Now!!!! #supportthemusic

Before the release of your first album, you built an impressive buzz for yourself. So what caused the album to fail to meet the high expectations?
I put that on myself to get back to where I need to be. We’re working. I do music for my fans and family. My fans appreciated my first album. But my label didn’t ship it for whatever reason. I re-evaluated my life and my situation and now I’m in a different place. I found out a lot of artists can’t go to a city and do a show with 2,000 people. I’m blessed to have people who appreciate what I do.

So what is the biggest difference in being at MMG vs. being at Interscope? The difference is freedom. I’m very in tune with urban culture. I felt my last situation wasn’t allowing me to grow with the urban culture. They saw a Lady Gaga opportunity and I went with it. I was a new artist and I didn’t get it. I thought I was being ignored by black America. It’s not as much money, but to connect with the people I grew up with is more important than connecting with pop fans. Even the white people who are familiar with my music deserve to hear what I’m really saying. I shouldn’t be marketed toward top 40. When I listen to my first album, you can hear who I am talking to. But I now have an opportunity to change that.

You have a lot of female fans. How important is it for you to balance the risque songs such as “No Hands” with inspirational tracks such as “Diary”?I want to be an advocate for the women. I may say some wild things, but that’s our time to have fun. But I stand for fixing the world our way. Let’s add spice to this and change the world. I believe women should go to school to network with others who will change the world. I’m encouraging. I’m a part of the problem, but I want to be a part of the clean up. “No Hands” is the party and “Ambitious Girls” is the clean up. We can have fun, but I hope you’re getting up and going to class. I don’t want to get in the way of that. That [is] something you have to do. For two years, I had to walk around with about $15 in my account. That was my time. I left school and had to get on my grind. I was about 21. Now show me you can work the system for four or five years and continue to do your thing.

You caught flack from black women for not having dark-skinned females in your “Pretty Girls” video. How did that make you feel?It wasn’t about that, but it showed me what I meant to the black culture. That made me realize that people hold me at a higher regard. That was when I knew I had to make a change. For “Pretty Girls,” I didn’t go on set until there were dark-skinned girls at the video shoot. I was waiting. The most horrible feeling in the world, was that my women think that I don’t care about them. I’d rather go broke than for my black women to think that I don’t care about them. I would rather lose everything than to have my queens think I’m turning my back on them. I was the only kid in my neighborhood with a father. And that’s because I’m African and they don’t divorce. It messed me up. When I was in Mississippi, a girl told me she had her first child at 16. So I made a song called “Illest B—- Alive.” There’s a special place in my heart for black girls. If you’re black and have a black mother, you know how special they are.

Beyond the physical, what is the most attractive thing about a woman?I like girls who can get the intellect popping. Instead of liking me just because I rap, I like girls who can ask about where I was mentally when I thought of making a certain record. I can find a nice amount of girls who think I’m attractive or whatever, but intellect is very important. “Lotus Flower Bomb” was a record that I wanted to create a long time ago. I’m not sure if radio was ready for that at the time. That’s kind of an adult vibe. I was 23 when I was writing my first project. I was doing what I was told to do instead of doing what my heart told me to do
