In a stunning culmination to New York Fashion Week, The Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan's Chelsea section hosted Beauty With Pure Purpose, a benefit fashion show and silent auction recognizing women living with breast cancer and Alopecia, this past Sunday. The event was packed with notables from the fashion, television and music industries, and featured critically-acclaimed designers' Spring/Summer 2014 collections.
Gracing the Red Carpet for this great event was Hip Hop Weekly editor Cynthia Horner, Mama Jones of VH1's Chrissy & Mr. Jones, Bravo TV Millionaire Matchmaker's Robin Kassner, Nuvo TV's Curvy Girls star Ivory May, Celebrity Fitness Instructor/Owner of Curvy Chick Fitness Charity Lynette, Guess Jeans owner 's son Alexander Bittan, Hip Hop artist H2, Breast Cancer survivor and Models Suzette Michelle & Jasmine Jazanti Santiago and many others. Hip-hop icon and breast cancer survivor Roxanne Shante expertly co-hosted the fashion show with Dana Roberts Ross, Breast Cancer Survivor and CEO of Beauty With Pure Purpose
Among the eagerly-anticipated Red Carpet arrivals of the stars. Making their public debut was the cast of the upcoming new television series, Fashion In The Fast Lane, which was an event sponsor. The show's host, celebrity stylist, author, and radio/TV personality Delvon Johnson, was joined by top-level swimwear and accessory designer Sonjja Baram, haute couture creator Marco Hall, legendary supermodel CoCo Mitchell, celebrity hairstylist Marisa Shockly-Wilson, and renowned international photographer Roxanne Lowit. The series' Executive Team, comprised of MNS Media Co-CEO and celebrity publicist Ernest Jackson, Labelleladiva Enterprises founder and CEO Yvonne Forbes (who produced Beauty with Pure Purpose) , Fashion In The Fast Lane series writer Nathan James, PopImpressKA Journal publisher Olga Papkovitch, Johnson and Baram, were also on hand for the rollout.
Showtime arrived, and the runway came alight with Sonjja Baram's exquisite swimsuits, each one singing its own song of style, with bright colors and pleasing lines. Sebastian Threadz' unique ensembles had the audience gawking at the finely-crafted collection. When Marco Hall's looks hit the spotlights, with free-flowing, relaxed dresses and sheer pieces, with an emphasis on plus-sizes, it was a feast for all eyes. His exquisitely-made creations reflected his gift for fashion, and the new looks were on everyone's tongues thereafter. Duckie Confetti's signature dresses raised the bar to a whole new level, emphasizing the models' grace and poise. Sofista Funk's collection epitomized the creativity of the skirtmaker's trade, with a new energy that received raves from the audience. Plus sizes were once again highlighted by Jhoanka & Co., making the point that real beauty sometimes comes in big packages!
With an impressive media gaggle, delectable hors d'oeuvres, and major industry names all in attendance, Beauty With Pure Purpose lived up to its billing, raising awareness of its important causes, while showcasing some of the hottest designers in the business.
